Kadoink - Am I just too old?

Kadoink? What is it? I was lucky to be part of a panel at Texting4Health last week and meet Ronna Tanenbaum one of the founders, so I was interest in trying it out. Basically you can send music and voice messages or blasts via SMS. Sort of SMS on Steriods if you learn the language.

So I signed up. (Basically I’m too old… 36+ chosen) and I quickly suffered from too many choices. I think Kadoink starts with a simple idea. There is one text number that empowers your messaging opportunities. Voice blasts, birthday messages etc. I found an advanced tab and was interested in the commands. There’s a great vision of all the options and I was just overwhelmed. So maybe I am really just too old for it. I’d be inclined to simplify. Overall I think there are simpler ways to play music and messages to one and many groups coming. There’s reason to have real interest in SMS systems. Let’s not forget one of the reasons it works is.. simplicity.

VentureBeat
reports 7million in funding and a “band” strategy. Mashable wrote last year about the “commands” when in private beta. Sean Corfield writes about what powers it and get comments on site usability which I have to agree with.
