Right now I like getting pushed into new directions. That's a little where I'm at. The economic melt-down is approaching systemic collapse. And in the social media world all I see is "wow" "wow" and this is the next thing. We've been missing the boat. The new angle for social media will be how it plays out now in hard hard times. How's it create opportunities, how's it going to answer problems and importantly how's it going to save your PR relationship?

Jim started blogging and contributing to Skype Journal a few years ago. He quickly learned how to get a following. It's great to see that platform and blogging lead him to a new venture focused on helping develop business solutions around the Skype ecosystem. Take a look at the site. He's amassed a lot of content and clearly put a lot of effort into it. Blogging for business can be hard. Best of luck Jim.

How motivated? Litmus members will be paid for checking out beta projects and filing suggestions and bug reports. The idea comes from Mob4Hire, a Canadian firm that’s been doing this for PC applications. O2 will also offer help marketing and distributing applications, and pay out 70% revenue share from their app store, with a guarantee of payment within five weeks. (Take that, reverse billing SMS! – and for that matter, the Apple App Store…)

I'd never really thought about it until today. Under what conditions are my Tweets published and how do I feel about attribution etc. Ken points to a new service Tweet CC. Seems to me Twitter should just build this functionality in.

The thought that it is always easier to create ideas than it is to execute is well known. What's brushed over is innovation in the execution which involves more ideas matters just as much. Action is what matters. But please this one is overdone. It's people at act on a stream of ideas that really make a difference.

"There are two realities "out there" now competing for verification among those who think about national affairs and make things happen. The dominant one (let's call it the Status Quo) is that our problems of finance and economy will self-correct and allow the project of a "consumer" economy to resume in "growth" mode. This view includes the idea that technology will rescue us from our fossil fuel predicament — through "innovation," through the discovery of new techno rescue remedy fuels, and via "drill, baby, drill" policy. This view assumes an orderly transition through the current "rough patch" into a vibrant re-energized era of "green" Happy Motoring and resumed Blue Light Special shopping.
The minority reality (let's call it The Long Emergency) says that it is necessary to make radically new arrangements for daily life and rather soon……… (see for more)"
