I’ve come to love reading the WSJ over the last couple of years. It’s delivered to my home daily. I’ve also read it all on the time on my iPhone on the WSJ app. I also share / tweet some links. So, I’m now told I have to pay for.. subscribe to the WSJ iPhone edition. Only a $1 per week and you can have 50% off now.

That’s unfortunate WSJ. For your actions will probably force me to terminate your daily print delivery. In fact it is very unfortunate. Currently the daily print edition is more fun to read / scan. Yet I like sharing it on the iPhone. I like reading it anywhere. When it comes down to choice… a good iPhone app will win. Unfortunately, I can no longer guarantee that the WSJ app boots each time, doesn’t crash or will load quickly before jumping onto BART. Fact is as your app has grown in complexity, added advertising and it has grown slow. I don’t use the video or the audio features. It’s no longer quick to open and today I don’t trust it enough to commit to an additional subscription.
So when I miss it in three days time… I will read more of the same on the NYT. I will consider dropping my home subscription and coming back and I’ll look again at FT which charged from the beginning. Oh and I’m enjoying the Guardian app which I payed for upfront.
How many subscribers will you lose?
