Not sure about the Nexus1 comparison. It's more to do "ease of use", "availablity", "simplicity". We should be concerned – iPad is a very closed system (which will be jailbroken but that matters little) and yet as a "tool" it will simplify training and adoption. Eg as the clipboard or many other replacements. iPHones and iPods train the users. It's a good bet and developers can see the opportunity.
The N900 is a good example of what could take it on… however development is glacially slow and Nokia is playing copycat rather than applying / developing a winning strategy. Open is their best chance – particularly given their base.
